11/15/2010 - Swing For Autism 2010 Benefiting New Vista Schools, Irvine BMW, Orange County
On Monday, November 15th, Irvine BMW helped sponsor the 2010 Swing for Autism Golf Tournament, which benefited the New Vista School.
The inaugural "Swing for Autism" Golf Tournament and Soiree will benefit New Vista School, a grade 6-12+ progressive educational centers that serves the needs of students with Asperser Syndrome, high-functioning autism, and language learning disabilities.
“Irvine BMW is proud to have sponsored the Swing for Autism Golf Tournament, where proceeds benefited the New Vista School’s goals and mission,” said Irvine BMW’s General Manager, Steve Rudkin. “New Vista School has accomplished so much in our community, and we’re glad to be avid supporters,” he said.
Currently Irvine BMW has joined the New Vista School in an internship program, where students who are 16-years-old or older can have the opportunity to gain work experience, while working at Irvine BMW.
The program is designed for students to have the opportunity to experience independence, learn real world skills and obtain work experience that will be essential to them in the future.
Students who are interested in joining the program sign up at the New Vista School, and are then selected by Irvine BMW for a formal interview.
Once students are selected for the program, they are placed in the area that best fits their skill level and interests. Students are scheduled to work a couple times a week for 2-3 hours a day, and are able to continue the program for the remainder of the school year.
