The latest generation comes in a hybrid version, and the entire lineup has many new features. Here's our Irvine BMW team's quick snapshot.
BMW 3 Series Trims
BMW 330i: These are the core BMW 3 series models. They are gas-powered, capable, and have buttery-smooth, torquey rides, thanks to 255-horsepower engines that go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds. Like all of the BMW 3 Series sedans, the BMW 330i is available with rear-wheel drive and an all-wheel-drive system called BMW xDrive. BMW xDrive adjusts torque between the front and rear wheels, delivering enhanced power on challenging terrains, roads, gravel, and sand around Laguna Beach.
BMW 330e: These are the new plug-in hybrid BMW 3 series models. They combine an electric motor with a powerful combustion engine, both elements working in tandem to heighten efficiency. The combination begets 288 horsepower. Plus, the BMW 330e series' all-electric range is ideal for quick round trips, errands, and brief excursions. Owning a hybrid model entitles you to preferential charging and parking places as well as access to single-occupancy HOV lanes. Federal and state tax credits verge on $5,000.
BMW M340i: These are the sports sedans in the BMW 3 Series family. Their beefy engines churn out a whopping 383 horsepower, approaching 60 mph in a little over four seconds. Precision sport-tuning, performance brakes, and huge double-spoke wheels give this sedan a unique look and ride feel. M Sport Suspension and eight-speed transmission with Sport and Manual shift modes as well as steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters give you maximum control and stability on Laguna Beach roads.
