BMW ELECTRIC LINEUP VS. TESLA MODELS

Electric Powerhouse Offerings: Comparing BMW and Tesla Vehicles

Laguna Beach drivers: BMW is one of the most iconic luxury vehicles on the road, and in recent years, they have created some incredible electric vehicles. Tesla has been the reigning champion in the electric vehicle world, with streamlined and powerful electric vehicles ruling the roads. But how do these vehicles stack up against one another? At Irvine BMW, we have compared BMW vehicles with Tesla vehicles to help you make the right choice.

BMW i4 vs. Tesla Model 3

For drivers in San Juan Capistrano, the BMW i4 is an electric small sedan much like the Tesla Model 3. The BMW i4 ships with three trim levels: eDrive35, eDrive40, and M50. The Tesla Model 3 also comes in a few trim levels: Base, Long Range, and Performance. Drivers can take the BMW i4 for a maximum driving range of 301 miles according to the EPA. This trim level is the eDrive40 trim, offering a power boost clocking in at 335 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The Tesla Model 3 can travel 358 miles with the Long Range trim, but without a boost in power output.

While these two electric vehicles have comparable performance, interior options for vary dramatically. As trim levels ascend, more and more tech and comfort amenities are available with the BMW i4. Upper trim levels include a Harman Kardon premium audio system, wireless smartphone charging, and a head-up display. Tesla Model 3's interior remains the same across all trim levels. This features Tesla's standard large infotainment display, wireless charging pads, and panoramic glass roof. Other than that, each trim level is essentially the same.

BMW i7 vs. Tesla Model S

When it comes to more powerful luxury sedans, the BMW i7 and the Tesla Model S are comparable for Mission Viejo drivers. The BMW i7 ships with a dual motor all-wheel-drive powertrain system clocking in at 536 horsepower and 549 pound-feet of torque. This is a realistic power output at a great price, offering drivers great daily driving power along with weekend adventure potential.

The Tesla Model S is absurdly overpowered, with the top-tier Plaid trim, producing 1,020 horsepower. Unless you really need that kind of power, you're paying for a feature you will infrequently use. And with the standard suite of Tesla entertainment and comfort amenities in the main cabin, the BMW i7 is a much more practical and diverse option.

BMW iX vs. Tesla Model X

If you're looking for an SUV, the BMW iX is a great choice. Similarly equipped the Tesla Model X is a classic in the Tesla lineup. Available to trim levels, the BMW iX can have serious power output clocking in at 610 horsepower and 749 pound-feet of torque with the M60 trim. Plus, you can expect a great driving range out of the BMW iX with a range of 324 miles on a single charge.

A Tesla Model X has a similar driving range, but you will experience a significant drop in range with the Plaid trim. Tesla offers up air suspension, tri-zone automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated front seats with the base model, as does the BMW iX. Upper trim levels of the BMW iX reach levels of luxury unmatched compared to Tesla. Enjoy soft close doors, ventilated and massaging front seats, full leather upholstery, and an upgraded Bowers and Wilkins premium audio system. This level of flexibility won't be found in Tesla vehicles, as many of the interior features are exactly the same across all trim levels.
