An Inside Look at the New 2020 BMW X2
Billed as a sports activity coupe, the 2020 BMW X2 is lean and mean, sporting an elongated profile hinting at its high energy performance. This four-door, five-passenger coupe also provides a smooth and comfortable ride, thanks to its computer-driven stabilizing system and lush interior design. There are three trim levels for the 2020 X2, including the sDrive28i, xDrive28i, and the M35i.
Performance
The 2020 X2 base engine model is a two-liter inline-four that offers 228-horsepower. The M35i trim receives an upgrade to a premium engine boasting 302-horsepower from its inline-four engine. It takes the 2020 X2 just under five seconds to reach a speed of 60 miles-per-hour from a standstill. While the base model comes with a front-wheel-drive transmission, the middle and top trim both feature all-wheel drive. All three trims come with an eight-speed transmission that includes overdrive and auto-manual. City driving yields an EPA-estimated gas mileage of 24 miles-per-gallon, and at highway speeds, the gas mileage increases to 32 miles-per-gallon.
Exterior
The base and middle trims offer a total of 11 exterior colors, while the M35i offers six. The X2 displays the classic BMW kidney-shaped grille framed between two wraparound LED headlights, with the BMW badge angled along the curve of the hood. The 18-inch alloy wheels come as standard, while available 20-inch alloy wheels give a touch of style to the side profile, along with the futuristic design of the side mirrors and the aerodynamic sculpting of the side panels. The rear features an artistically designed raised spoiler that's as stylish as it is energy efficient. Dual exhaust pipes sit below the wraparound brake lights.
Interior
The touchscreen measures nearly nine inches in width and dominates the dashboard, coordinating information, driving, and technology controls in one handy location. The interior is sleekly fitted with BMW's SensaTec upholstery in dual tones that offer visual interest while highlighting the seating and dashboard. Contoured bucket seating cushions driver and passengers in comfort for long journeys. Anthracite detailing characterizes the headliner above, while chrome highlights set the steering wheel, gear shift and pedals alight. The cargo area holds a full 21.5 cubic-feet of luggage, groceries, and gear, which can be extended to 50 cubic-feet when lowering the rear seats in a 60-40 split configuration.
Technology
Drivers can add a wireless charging pad to keep handheld technology fully charged while on the road. The 2020 X2 offers an option for a Wi-Fi hotspot subscription, with the first three months included at no charge. Drivers will enjoy the convenience of a heads-up display that lists vital information like speed, navigation details, collision warnings, and speed limits right onto the windshield, leaving them free to keep their eyes on the road while seeking vital information. Seven speakers broadcast playlists strategically around the cabin. All entertainment and information controls are governed by BMW's iDrive system, an interface that features controls on the touchscreen as well as on the knob located on the central console.

Front and rear passengers have all the standard airbags as well as a head protection system.
